Contaminants : Heavy metals + VOC’s
The treatment plant was designed to treat VOC's and metals at a flow rate of 220 gpm. The remedial design was based on the results of a pre-remedial design (RD) investigation. Plant systems include a groundwater recovery system, electrochemical metals removal process, pH adjustment, coagulation, clarification, multi-media filtration, air stripping (for removal of VOCs), activated carbon adsorption, final pH adjustment, sludge dewatering and infiltration galleries. The clean effluent is pH adjusted and pumped to infiltration trenches and galleries which are designed to effectively isolate and contain the contaminated plume.

The plant has been operating satisfactorily, and meeting the treatment standards for all components. On an ongoing basis, the flow rates of the individual wells are adjusted regularly in order to maximize the removal efficiency, decreasing cleanup time, and thereby reducing remedial costs.
